Jones DesLauriers Insurance Management, a founding Broker Partner of Navacord, has added two senior leaders to its Complex Risk division as part of a broader strategy to expand its advisory capabilities for clients with sophisticated insurance needs.
Effective August 5, 2025, John Crossley has been appointed vice president, Financial and Professional Lines leader, while Daniel Szpik has joined as assistant vice president, P&C Placement leader. Both will be based in the brokerage’s downtown Toronto office.
They will report to Imran Pira, managing partner and head of Complex Risk, who launched the division in August 2024.
The appointments signal growing demand for tailored insurance solutions in a risk landscape that continues to evolve across sectors such as transportation, construction, real estate, and professional services.
“John brings deep insight into executive and financial risk, while Dan’s experience in complex P&C placements will enhance our ability to structure bespoke programs for clients navigating challenging exposures,” said Pira.
Crossley, who previously served as vice president at a global brokerage, specializes in management liability, including Directors and Officers Liability (D&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), and Financial Institutions Errors & Omissions (E&O). His background includes underwriting, data analytics, and risk advisory for transactions such as mergers, IPOs, and up listings.
Szpik joins the firm with more than seven years of experience structuring property and casualty programs for large and complex accounts. His new role will focus on placement strategy for high-value portfolios, working closely with senior advisors and insurance markets to deliver customized solutions.
Scott Irwin, president and CEO of Jones DesLauriers, said the expansion reflects the firm’s continued investment in talent and infrastructure.
“These appointments underscore our commitment to building a strong Complex Risk platform and supporting clients with tailored advice in a more volatile insurance environment,” Irwin said.
Jones DesLauriers, one of the largest independent brokerages in the Greater Toronto Area, places over $750 million in premiums annually and employs more than 350 professionals. The firm continues to expand its footprint in Ontario and Quebec under the Navacord network, with a focus on complex commercial insurance and advisory services.
