The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) has confirmed its leadership team and board members for the 2025 to 2026 term, following its annual general meeting held in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, on Sept. 25, 2025.

The appointments come at a time when Canada's insurance landscape is evolving rapidly, with brokers playing a key role in maintaining consumer confidence and ensuring fair access to coverage amid digital transformation, climate-related risks and affordability challenges.

The newly named executive committee includes Mathieu Brunet as chair, Brett McGregor as president, Jessica Asano as president-elect, and Brandon McGee as vice president. Together, they will help steer IBAC's strategic priorities for the coming year, which include advocating for the broker channel, promoting consumer protection, and advancing the industry's role in an increasingly tech-driven market.

IBAC also announced its board of directors for 2025 to 2026, representing regional broker associations across the country. The board members are Michele Carver from the Insurance Brokers Association of British Columbia, Jody Lohr from the Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta, Jaycee Turtle from the Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan, Don Normandeau from the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba, Shara Bierman from the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario, Shani Briffa from the Toronto Insurance Council, Lucie Fréchette from the Regroupement des cabinets de courtage d’assurance du Québec, James Higgins from the Insurance Brokers Association of New Brunswick, Rhonda Kelly from the Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia, Tabetha Carr from the Insurance Brokers Association of Prince Edward Island, and Bill Buckingham from the Insurance Brokers Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.

IBAC CEO Peter Braid said the new board embodies the collaboration and community focus that define Canada’s broker network. He noted that this group will continue to champion the broker value proposition, which emphasizes personalized advice, consumer trust, and advocacy in an increasingly complex insurance market.

The association’s leadership changes reinforce IBAC’s ongoing efforts to represent broker interests nationally, engage policymakers on key regulatory issues, and navigate market shifts brought on by technology, consolidation, and emerging risks. By fostering unity among provincial associations, IBAC aims to strengthen the broker channel’s position as an essential bridge between insurers and consumers across Canada.
