Golf Canada has signed a multi-year partnership with BFL Canada that will see the broker become the Official Commercial Insurance Brokerage of Golf Canada and presenting sponsor of the 2026 World Junior Girls Golf Championship.

The 11th edition of the championship is scheduled for Sept. 28 to Oct. 3, 2026, at Brampton Golf Club in Brampton, Ontario.

Broker takes on insurance and risk advisory role

Under the agreement, the broker is expected to act as Golf Canada’s primary commercial insurance and risk adviser, supporting the governing body on exposures linked to national events and day-to-day operations. That includes liability and property risks at host clubs, event cancellation, participant accident, volunteer protection, and cyber risks associated with registration, scoring, and ticketing systems.

“BFL Canada is a trusted and leading commercial insurance brokerage firm with long-standing experience in servicing sports organizations. We are proud to officially welcome this Canadian flagship organization as the newest partner of Golf Canada,” said Mark Palmer, chief commercial officer at Golf Canada. “The World Junior Girls Golf Championship brings together some of the top female amateur golfers from across the globe. It is only fitting that a company recognized and respected worldwide is now the Presenting Sponsor, and we look forward to continuing to elevate this special championship alongside BFL Canada.”

For BFL Canada, the deal extends its sports and recreation portfolio, where specialist brokers are being asked to structure programs that combine liability, accident, property, cyber, and contingency coverage for multi-day, international events.

Brampton to host for a second time

Golf Canada has also confirmed that Brampton Golf Club will host the 2026 World Junior Girls Golf Championship, presented by BFL Canada, for the second time.

Brampton last hosted the event in 2023, when Canada won team gold after a three-way battle with the Republic of Korea and the United States. With the 2026 event, Brampton will become the third club to host multiple World Junior Girls championships, alongside The Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa, Ont. and Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ont.

Insurance and the junior-to-pro pathway

Since its launch, the World Junior Girls Golf Championship has become a notable pathway event, with several former competitors going on to win on the LPGA Tour. Alumni include Brooke Henderson, 14-time LPGA winner and Canada’s most successful professional golfer, current world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand, and major champion Yuka Saso.

For insurance professionals, the partnership is another example of brokers aligning with national sports bodies as both sponsors and long-term risk partners. A tournament involving 23 countries, 24 teams, and 72 players brings together international squads, officials, volunteers, broadcasters, suppliers, and host venues, creating a mix of liability, injury, property, cyber, and weather-related exposures. Having a dedicated commercial insurance brokerage embedded in the structure gives Golf Canada a single point of coordination for risk transfer, program design, and claims across its flagship junior event.

The individual champion in 2026 will earn an exemption into the 2027 CPKC Women’s Open, further reinforcing the event’s role as a bridge to elite professional competition.
