Ontario insurance professionals will have access to free training on standardized auto reform changes ahead of new regulations taking effect this summer.
The Insurance Institute of Ontario has partnered with the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario and the Ontario Mutual Insurance Association to offer an on-demand training program focused on Ontario’s Standardized Auto Reform, which comes into effect on July 1, 2026.
The program aims to equip brokers, agents, and other property and casualty insurance professionals with the knowledge to guide consumers through the regulatory changes.
“To ensure brokers, agents, and other P&C professionals are equipped to guide Ontario’s auto insurance consumers through the changes,” the organisations developed the program to provide “a standardized overview of the regulatory changes to ensure consistent knowledge across the industry and a smooth transition to the new regulations for consumers,” according to a news release.
The Institute announced the training initiative as part of National Education Month, which aims to highlight the role of ongoing education in the property and casualty insurance industry.
The Insurance Institute of Ontario is also offering a two-part webinar series on the topic. The first webinar, Auto Reform Changes 2026 Part One, is scheduled for Feb. 18, 2026. The second session, Auto Reform Changes 2026 Part Two, will take place on Feb. 25, 2026.
The training initiatives are designed to support the Institute’s 2026 National Education Month campaign theme, Learn Something New, which emphasises expanding property and casualty insurance knowledge.
“These initiatives, in addition to efforts by local institutes and chapters, highlight the Institute’s crucial role in offering numerous pathways to ongoing success in P&C careers, which in turn drives a resilient and knowledge-based industry,” said Peter Hohman, president and CEO of The Insurance Institute of Canada.
The SABS training launch coincides with other Institute education priorities, including Project Reframe, a career rebranding campaign designed to attract new talent, and ongoing enhancements to the Chartered Insurance Professional designation program.
Information about the training program is available through the Insurance Institute of Ontario.
