Australian insurers are facing increasing demands to enhance underwriting precision, manage loss ratios, and update legacy systems.
In response, Nearmap has introduced a new cloud-based integration for its Betterview Platform with Guidewire PolicyCenter, aiming to support insurers in meeting these operational goals.
The integration, known as the Nearmap Accelerator for Betterview, enables underwriters to access a range of property intelligence tools – such as high-resolution aerial imagery, AI-generated property condition assessments, and predictive risk scores – directly within the Guidewire PolicyCenter interface.
This approach is intended to reduce the need for underwriters to switch between multiple platforms, which can help streamline workflows and potentially lower IT maintenance costs.
David Tobias, chief product officer at Nearmap, commented on the development.
“Insurers don’t have time for fragmented workflows. This cloud-native Accelerator brings our industry-leading property intelligence into the environment underwriters already trust, PolicyCenter, so they can act faster, mitigate risks earlier, and focus on delivering value to policyholders,” he said.
The Nearmap Accelerator is designed to embed the Betterview platform’s capabilities within PolicyCenter, allowing underwriters to review property imagery and insights without leaving the core system.
Property risk flags generated by Betterview are automatically recorded as underwriting issues in PolicyCenter, and relevant reports are uploaded to the policy file’s document portal.
By incorporating AI-driven analytics and change detection, the integration supports proactive risk management.
Underwriters can identify potential risks and engage with policyholders before issues result in claims.
The cloud-native design of the Accelerator is also intended to simplify ongoing system maintenance and reduce the need for custom development.
Nearmap’s efforts in technology integration were acknowledged at Guidewire’s 2025 Customer and Partner Awards, where the company was named APAC Technology Partner of the Year.
The awards, presented at the Guidewire Connections conference, recognised achievements in the application of intelligent insurance solutions and innovation among Guidewire’s global partners.
Other award recipients included PwC for global market growth, Capgemini for customer impact, and Cognizant for APAC regional growth, alongside technology partners such as One Inc., Photocert, Verisk, AWS, and Box.
