Wotton Kearney has expanded its cyber, privacy, and technology practice through the appointment of Lana Remedi (pictured) as partner in Sydney.

Remedi, who has established her career in cyber law and incident response, brings experience in managing data breach investigations and advising on privacy compliance, notification obligations, and third-party claims.

Expansion of cyber, privacy, and technology practice

Kieran Doyle, head of cyber, privacy, and technology at Wotton Kearney, noted that Remedi’s addition aligns with the firm’s strategy to address the evolving digital risk landscape.

“Lana has a strong reputation in cyber and data protection,” he said. “Her deep expertise and thought leadership in the industry, which is well regarded in the market, make her an exceptional addition to our team.”

Remedi is also involved in industry organisations, serving on the New South Wales committee of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) and leading AILA’s Cyber committee. In these roles, she contributes to discussions about digital transformation and cyber risk in the insurance sector.

Her achievements include being named Cyber Security Professional of the Year in the Professional and Financial Services category at the 2025 Australian Cyber Awards, as well as being listed in the 2026 edition of Best Lawyers for Alternative Dispute Resolution and Personal Injury Litigation.

Upon joining the firm, Remedi commented: “I’m excited to be joining Wotton Kearney’s market-leading cyber, privacy, and technology practice. I look forward to collaborating with the firm’s talented team and joining forces to guide our clients through the increasingly complex and dynamic landscape of cyber threats and digital risk.”

Professional and financial risks team welcomes new partner

The firm has also appointed Craig Terrill as partner in its Melbourne office, further strengthening its professional & financial risks practice.

Terrill’s background includes senior roles in both Australia and the UK, with expertise spanning professional indemnity, directors and officers liability, construction, and complex property matters.

Andrew Moore, head of financial lines, said the addition brings further depth to the firm’s professional & financial risks team.

“His global perspective, technical depth, and proven track record in complex indemnity matters will be invaluable to our clients. This acquisition continues to build our ability to deliver tailored, commercially astute solutions across jurisdictions,” he said.

Terrill’s practice includes advising insurers on policy matters, claims management, litigation, and dispute resolution. He is recognised for his work on high-profile disputes, including infrastructure projects, environmental claims, and financial services litigation.

On his appointment, Terrill commented: “Wotton Kearney’s reputation for technical excellence and collaborative culture made this an easy decision. I’m excited to join a team that’s committed to solving complex challenges and driving innovation in the professional risks space.”

Ongoing growth and market presence

Since its establishment in 2002, Wotton Kearney has expanded from two partners to more than 95 partners and over 500 legal professionals across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Thailand.

The additions of Remedi and Terrill reflect the firm’s ongoing investment in specialist legal services for the insurance industry, particularly in areas of cyber, privacy, technology, and professional risk.

The firm continues to focus on supporting clients as they navigate increasingly complex risk environments in Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
