Insurers operating in Australia are set to return to Harden, New South Wales, to meet with policyholders impacted by the severe hailstorm and heavy rainfall that struck the region in February 2025.

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has announced that representatives from multiple insurance companies will be available for in-person consultations at the Harden Country Club on Nov. 11 and 12, with sessions running from 9am to 5pm.

The initiative is designed to provide local residents with direct access to insurer representatives. Attendees will be able to discuss the specifics of their claims, seek advice on the recovery process, and obtain information on dispute resolution and insurance procedures.

Registration for the event is required and can be completed through the ICA’s official website.

Liam Walter, the ICA’s director of mitigation and extreme weather response, addressed the status of recovery in Harden – stating that insurers have been actively engaged in assessing, repairing, and resolving claims since the hailstorm, although some residents are still in the process of recovery.

“Insurers are committed to supporting those in and around Harden who may be facing challenges in their recovery and look forward to this further face-to-face collaboration. We encourage anyone who feels they may benefit to come along and meet directly with their insurer for one-on-one support,” he said.

North Queensland consultations to focus on flood claims

In a similar effort, the ICA will host a community session for residents of Ingham and nearby areas in North Queensland who are managing claims related to the February floods.

This session will take place at the Hinchinbrook Shire Hall on Nov. 4, from 9:30am to 5pm. Residents can book appointments via the ICA website.

This marks the fourth time the ICA has visited North Queensland since the flooding event.

The session aims to provide policyholders with an opportunity to raise claim-specific questions, clarify details, and receive guidance on next steps. General information about insurance processes and dispute resolution will also be available.

Walter noted the importance of ongoing engagement.

“Insurers are committed to supporting those in Ingham and surrounds who may be facing challenges in their recovery. We encourage anyone who feels they may benefit to come along and meet directly with their insurer for one-on-one support,” he said.
