Insurance Business has announced its 2025 list of leading underwriting agencies in Australia, following a national survey of 700 brokers across multiple lines of business.
The findings, released in the 2025 Brokers on Underwriting Agencies special report, recognise agencies and products that brokers ranked highest across 17 insurance categories.
To compile the list, Insurance Business invited brokers to participate via social media and its online newsletter. Respondents were asked to nominate and rank their top three underwriting agencies in each of 17 key insurance segments in the Australian market.
As part of the same survey, brokers identified standout products offered by underwriting agencies and provided feedback on whether areas such as turnaround times, product range, and pricing had shifted over the past 12 months.
The research also examined what drives brokers’ decisions when choosing an underwriting agency. Brokers were asked to rate the importance of seven specific service factors:
These factors formed part of the framework used to interpret broker sentiment and compare agency performance.
Insurance Business used the survey results to calculate scores for each underwriting agency within every insurance class. The three highest‑scoring agencies in each category were recognised with gold, silver, and bronze medals.
On the product side, the three underwriting agency products that received the most broker votes across the survey were awarded Brokers’ Pick medals.
