Residents of Casterton will have another chance to meet directly with insurers next month, as the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) prepares to return for a new round of consultations related to the October 2023 storm and hail event.
The follow-up sessions come nearly two years after the disaster, with many locals still navigating the claims and rebuilding process. The ICA says the continued presence of insurers is aimed at helping customers resolve outstanding issues and access further support.
"We acknowledge that despite quite some time passing since this event, recovery is still very much ongoing for this community," ICA CEO Andrew Hall said.
The sessions will take place at the Casterton Town Hall on July 3 from 10:00am to 7:00pm and July 4 from 8:00am to 4:00pm. A range of insurers will be available for one-on-one meetings, with policyholders able to discuss individual claims and ask questions specific to their situations.
Information on the broader claims process and dispute resolution will also be available for those seeking general advice. Attendance is free, but bookings are required via the ICA website.
"While the Insurance Council hosted community consultations in April earlier this year, our return to the region signifies our commitment to working closely with policyholders and all those along the supply chain – including builders, suppliers and assessors – on finalising outstanding claims,” Hall said.
"I encourage anyone with an outstanding claim to come see your insurer in-person for tailored advice."
