Gallagher Bassett Australia (GB Australia) has marked the first year of its collaboration with Foodbank Australia, reporting that its staff and partners have packed more than 100,000 meals for people experiencing food insecurity.
The anniversary was recognised at a joint packing session that brought together Gallagher Bassett’s senior executives and representatives from icare.
Lionel Charmetant, chief operating officer and deputy CEO – personal injury at Gallagher Bassett, said the achievement demonstrated the value of cooperative action.
“Working hand in hand multiplies our impact and reinforces our belief that, together, we can create positive change for those facing food insecurity. With the help of icare, we packed GB’s 100,000th meal for Foodbank. Achieving this target together was a very special moment,” he said.
Chief executive officer Pete Nicholson said the volunteering program had been well received internally.
“I am incredibly proud of our people for embracing this partnership wholeheartedly. In just a year, more than 130 employees have volunteered their time to this cause, and their feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Our growing waitlist for volunteering sessions makes it clear that this is a cause that truly resonates with our people,” he said.
During the partnership’s launch law year, Gallagher Bassett confirmed a $25,000 contribution to Foodbank aimed at supporting food programs in First Nations communities.
The donation forms part of the firm’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, which outlines steps to deepen engagement with Indigenous communities.
Nicholson said in a previous statement that the expanded initiative reflected Gallagher Bassett’s reconciliation commitments.
“We are honoured to join forces with Foodbank and support their vital work in providing hunger relief to First Nations communities,” he said.
As part of the launch, Gallagher Bassett also donated Gentle Bears during a visit to Foodbank’s New South Wales and ACT warehouse.
Andrew Spilsbury, Gallagher Bassett’s global vice president of brand strategy, management and growth, said in a previous statement that the collaboration fits within the company’s broader community support framework.
“At Gallagher Bassett, our people are driven by our mission to help the people, clients, and communities we serve, so this partnership aligns closely to the core of our culture and company,” he said.
