Everest Group has named Paul Trueman (pictured, left) as head of international, Global Wholesale & Specialty (GWS) and Mark Shaw (pictured, right) as global head of commercial, GWS, effective immediately.

The appointments reflect Everest's ongoing effort to unify and strengthen its wholesale and specialty platform, combining disciplined underwriting, portfolio management and broker engagement across key markets. Jason Keen, global head of Wholesale & Specialty, said Trueman and Shaw bring proven leadership and executional expertise to support the company's performance-driven strategy.

Expanding international and specialty capabilities

Trueman will oversee underwriting, distribution and portfolio strategy in international markets, leading Everest Global Markets (EGM), Accident & Health (A&H), and Facultative operations. Since joining Everest in 2022, he has been instrumental in expanding specialty offerings and cultivating broker partnerships in major global hubs, positioning Everest to capture growth opportunities in complex and high-demand lines.

Shaw will lead global commercial insurance strategy, focusing on broker engagement and client development. His extensive industry experience and established broker relationships have enhanced Everest’s visibility and market reach. Shaw previously served as UK Commercial Director and Global Account Lead.

Supporting the transformation

The global wholesale and specialty insurance market is undergoing a period of transformation, driven by rising demand for tailored risk solutions, expanding international coverage needs, and the increasing complexity of client exposures. Growth in areas such as cyber, renewable energy, environmental liability, and emerging commercial sectors has intensified competition among brokers and insurers, while clients are seeking more innovative, flexible products.

By strengthening senior leadership in both international and commercial lines, Everest is positioning itself to capitalise on these trends. The appointments are expected to enhance underwriting efficiency, expand access to specialty capacity, and support brokers with deeper technical expertise. For clients, the move promises broader and more sophisticated coverage options, particularly in regions and sectors where risk exposures are evolving rapidly.

Aligning leadership with market-facing roles reinforces Everest’s commitment to disciplined underwriting, broker collaboration, and portfolio diversification. This positions the firm to navigate emerging risks, optimise risk-adjusted returns, and maintain its competitive advantage in the growing global specialty and wholesale insurance market.
