The partnership, which will take effect in June 2026, aims to strengthen the companies’ agricultural insurance capabilities and enhance digital services for brokers, partners, and customers. According to a news release, this follows a similar arrangement made earlier this year between IAG New Zealand’s NZI brand and Ag Guard New Zealand.
Founded in 2013, Ag Guard is a technology-led agricultural insurance business with expertise in rural underwriting and a focus on developing digital solutions for quoting, binding, and claims management.
CGU and WFI Insurance CEO Jarrod Hill said the partnership marks a key step in advancing the companies’ growth plans. “We are excited to have established this landmark partnership with Ag Guard, which is a significant step forward in our growth ambitions for CGU and WFI,” Hill said.
“Through Ag Guard’s advanced technology and specialist crop underwriting expertise, we aim to deliver comprehensive pricing and underwriting, enhanced risk selection and an immediate uplift in digital capabilities, providing our brokers, partners, and customers with an innovative and expansive agri offering.”
Ag Guard CEO Alex Cohn said the company looks forward to expanding its relationship with IAG through the agreement. “We are delighted to expand our relationship with IAG, and to forge an exclusive partnership with the intermediated business in Australia. We look forward to developing comprehensive, innovative and tailored insurance solutions to support the evolving needs of CGU and WFI’s rural customers,” Cohn said.
Ag Guard provides insurance solutions across the agricultural sector in Australia and New Zealand, with products covering crop, livestock, and farm insurance. IAG operates insurance businesses in both countries, underwriting more than $17 billion in premiums annually through several brands, including CGU, WFI, NRMA Insurance, and NZI.
