AIA Vietnam Life Insurance Company, a subsidiary of AIA Group, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FPT Corporation, a global technology company, to accelerate digital innovation in Vietnam’s insurance and healthcare sectors.

The collaboration aims to combine AIA Vietnam’s insurance expertise with FPT’s technological capabilities to develop integrated life and health insurance solutions tailored to the Vietnamese market.

The agreement will see both organizations working together to leverage AIA Vitality, AIA’s health and wellness platform, alongside FPT’s technology ecosystem.

This partnership is intended to address the increasing demand for comprehensive protection and financial solutions in Vietnam by creating digital products that enhance customer engagement and operational efficiency.

Joint focus on customer-centric insurance and healthcare solutions

Both AIA Vietnam and FPT have emphasised a shared commitment to customer-centricity as the foundation of their collaboration.

The companies plan to build a connected ecosystem that integrates insurance, technology, and healthcare, aiming to deliver accessible and personalized protection solutions to Vietnamese consumers.

Andrew Loh, chief executive officer of AIA Vietnam, highlighted the importance of the new alliance, stating that customer needs remain central to the company’s approach.

“The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding with FPT is a clear demonstration of that commitment – leveraging FPT’s extensive technology ecosystem with AIA’s insurance expertise. This is the next step in expanding our digital transformation journey while further strengthening our health and wellness ecosystem, with AIA Vitality as the core foundation of AIA’s Health & Wellness Protection strategy. We strongly believe this collaboration will deliver tangible value and help the people of Vietnam live healthier, longer, better lives,” he said.

Zhang Fisher (pictured fourth from the right), regional chief executive of AIA Group, emphasised that the collaboration with FPT reflects AIA Group’s ongoing dedication to narrowing the protection gap throughout Asia.

“In Vietnam, we believe that by leveraging AIA’s insurance expertise and health and wellness ecosystem with FPT’s comprehensive technology platforms and proven capabilities, we will create more personalised, holistic insurance, and healthcare solutions. This partnership will contribute positively to the development of the insurance industry, as well as to the health and wellbeing of the people,” he said.

FPT’s role in supporting digital transformation

FPT Corporation brings over 15 years of experience in the insurance sector, serving more than 200 clients worldwide with a team of 3,000 specialists and over 500 insurance-related certifications.

Pham Minh Tuan (pictured fourth from the left), CEO of FPT Software and executive vice president of FPT Corporation, noted that the insurance sector is experiencing increased interest in advanced technologies, especially artificial intelligence.

According to the 2024 Emerging Trends Insurance Consumer Survey by GlobalData, nearly three-quarters of respondents believe AI can reduce the time needed to reach customer service representatives. Over 71% cited improvements in operational performance, and a similar percentage said AI could outperform humans in pattern detection. Satisfaction rates among users of insurance chatbots were reported at 74.5%.

A report from the Capgemini Research Institute projects that agentic AI could generate up to US$450 billion in economic value by 2028. The research indicates that 20% of insurance organisations are piloting AI agent applications, while 12% have implemented the technology to some extent. However, only 4% of insurance organizations currently express full trust in AI agents.

“As an AI-first company, we will continue to bring our AI expertise and AI-augmented workforce, especially through our AI platform FleziPT, to help insurers optimise operations, boost productivity, enhance customer experiences, ultimately to set new industry benchmarks and improve the quality of life for everyone,” Pham Minh Tuan said.
