Bridge Specialty International (BSI), a global insurance wholesaler, has appointed Abhishek Chhajer as chief executive officer of its Asian business unit, effective August 1, 2025.
Chhajer will lead BSI’s operations across Asia, including Acorn International Network Pte in Singapore and Capstone Insurance Brokers in Hong Kong, both BSI companies.
Chhajer brings 25 years of extensive experience in banking and insurance across senior management, underwriting, and broking. His appointment aims to strengthen BSI's presence and make it a leading specialty and wholesale broker in Asia.
David Ong, co-founder of Acorn International Network, will step down as CEO to become chairman but will remain actively involved in the business.
Tim Coles, CEO of BSI, welcomed Chhajer to the leadership team. “His expertise and international experience will help us build our Asian presence, creating a regional hub in Singapore from which we aim to become a leading specialty and wholesale broker in the Asia region,” he said.
Coles also acknowledged Ong’s contributions in establishing Acorn as a strong local presence, providing a solid foundation for future growth across Asia.
Acorn International Network, acquired by BSI in October 2024, is a licensed insurance broker operating under Singapore’s Monetary Authority with a focus on tailored risk management and insurance brokerage services for corporates, SMEs, and high-net-worth clients.
The firm collaborates with a broad range of insurers and retail brokers, including Lloyd’s syndicates, to offer both general and specialized insurance solutions.
Capstone Insurance Brokers, acquired by BSI in April 2022 and regulated by Hong Kong’s Insurance Authority, specialises in insurance for the financial services sector, including digital assets and aviation pilot coverage.
BSI’s move reflects broader trends in the Asian insurance market, characterised by increasing demand for specialised insurance products aligned with the region’s economic growth and rising complexities in risk management.
