Blue Cross (Asia Pacific) Insurance Company has announced a collaboration with four major healthcare institutions to create a cross-border medical ecosystem serving Hong Kong customers in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The insurance company partnered with United Family Healthcare, Hong Kong Integrated Oncology Centre, HEAL Oncology under New Frontier Group, and Zhongshan Chen Xinghai Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. The collaboration aims to provide Hong Kong residents with affordable, high-quality healthcare services across mainland China, a news release highlighted.
Under the agreement, eligible Blue Cross medical insurance customers can directly book consultations and surgical procedures at UFH’s two integrated hospitals – Shenzhen New Frontier United Family Hospital and Guangzhou United Family Hospital – as well as Zhongshan Chen Xinghai Hospital. The system includes pre-treatment assessments and direct billing services, allowing patients to focus on recovery without handling medical expenses.
Cancer patients gain access to comprehensive diagnostic imaging and treatment services through New Frontier Group’s HKIOC and HEAL Oncology centers. The facilities feature advanced medical equipment and experienced specialists providing services from early diagnosis through personalized treatment plans and systemic therapy.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with exceptional medical institutions,” said Bonnie Tse, chief executive officer of Blue Cross. “We strive to complement their healthcare journey from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and recovery, supporting them at every critical juncture.”
The partnership offers several key features: value-based end-to-end solutions prioritizing affordability, doctor-driven applications for medical expense assessments, a dedicated hotline for cross-border medical inquiries, and comprehensive support from eligibility checks through treatment preparation. UFH hospitals provide concierge-style hospitalization services with dedicated staff offering in-room assistance.
Brian Siu, executive director of New Frontier and chief operating officer of New Frontier GBA, noted the growing trend of Hong Kong residents seeking mainland medical care. “Both hospitals are equipped with advanced facilities and specialist teams, assuring patients of top-tier medical solutions and care,” he said.
Zhongshan Chen Xinghai Hospital represents the first Guangdong-Hong Kong jointly built hospital integrating Chinese and Western medicine. The facility serves as a national clinical trial institution and participates in Hong Kong’s Elderly Health Care Vouchers pilot scheme.
The collaboration addresses increasing demand for cross-border healthcare services while maintaining quality standards and reducing costs for Hong Kong residents seeking medical treatment in the Greater Bay Area.
