Allianz Trade has appointed Ly Dao as country manager for Vietnam, effective Sept. 2025.
The move is part of the company’s broader strategy to reinforce its market position and support its growth ambitions in Vietnam.
Dao, who brings more than 17 years of insurance industry experience, will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Allianz Trade’s business in Vietnam. Her remit includes strategic planning, operational management, compliance, and the execution of both short- and long-term business objectives.
Dao will also act as the company’s legal representative in Vietnam, maintaining engagement with regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders.
As part of her role, Dao is tasked with driving business development, building relationships with brokers, banks, and other partners, and promoting trade credit insurance solutions. She will collaborate with regional and global teams to ensure the alignment of business strategies and performance targets.
Dao will also lead the local sales and risk management teams, focusing on talent development and operational efficiency.
In a statement about her new role, Dao expressed enthusiasm for joining Allianz Trade and leading its Vietnam operations.
“I am thrilled to be joining Allianz Trade and embarking on this exciting opportunity to drive growth and strengthen our presence in Vietnam. Vietnam is a dynamic and fast-growing market. Together with our talented colleagues and partners, I am confident that we can unlock great potential, achieve remarkable success, and create lasting value for our customers,” she said.
Dao’s previous roles include senior leadership positions at Unity Willis Towers Watson, Allianz Partners, Marsh, Liberty Mutual Insurance, and Allianz Insurance. Her experience covers business development, partnership management, sales leadership, and risk management.
In a separate development, Allianz Trade has announced a leadership change for its Hong Kong Hub, which includes Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan.
Effective Oct. 1, Hassan Omaish will assume the role of CEO for the region, succeeding Edmond Lee, who is retiring after more than 12 years with the company.
Omaish, who will be based in Hong Kong, has been with Allianz Trade for 15 years and has held a range of leadership positions across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Most recently, he was global head of broker management and partnerships, where he led global broker strategies and partnership initiatives.
Omaish’s background also includes roles as commercial director for ASEAN and the Hong Kong Hub, as well as country manager for Malaysia.
